Ian Eu Shien Teh

Ian Teh is 22 years old and currently studying at the University of Edinburgh. Originally from Malaysia, Ian has lived in Tokyo, Taipei, and Shanghai before moving to the UK for sixth form in Oxford, and finally to Edinburgh for university.

Ian started playing the piano at the age of five. After attaining ABRSM Grade 8 before the age of twelve, he was invited to perform at the ABRSM Shanghai High-Scorers’ Concert, held at the He Luting Concert Hall of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. At the age of fifteen, he attained the ABRSM Diploma, and the following year, he achieved the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (LRSM) Diploma in Piano Performance. Over the years, Ian has attended international piano masterclasses and performed at various concert venues, including Carnegie Hall in New York, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC, the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford, St. Paul’s Cathedral in Valletta, Malta, the Beethoven-Haus in Bonn, the Wiener Saal at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, and the Ehrbar Saal in Vienna. As a keen concerto pianist, he performed his first concerto with an orchestra in Seoul, playing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21. Recently, he performed Beethoven's 4th Piano Concerto at the Victoria Concert Hall in Singapore and Beethoven's 5th Piano Concerto at the Reid Concert Hall of the University of Edinburgh.

Academically, Ian received the Top-in-China in IGCSE Music Award from the Cambridge International Examination board. Subsequently, he was awarded both academic and music scholarships to attend Sixth Form at Magdalen College School, Oxford. Ian is currently a fifth-year student studying Medicine at the University of Edinburgh, graduating in 2025
