Ruoheng Mao
Grace Mao, aged 12.
Grace Mao has a deep passion for the piano and has been studying under Dr. Jenny Q Chai, a professor in the Piano Department at the University of California, Berkeley, a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, a professional mentor at the Manhattan School of Music, and the founder and principal of Feis Music Education in Shanghai, as well as Professor Peter Tomasz, a Polish pianist, composer, and co-founder of Feis Music Education in Shanghai.
Throughout her piano studies, Grace has won numerous awards in international piano competitions. She was awarded first prize in the 9-12 age group at the 2023 Elite International Music Competition, two platinum awards and the Technical Music Genius Award at the 2023 Global Genius Music Competition, and the Chopin Group championship at the 2023 SIPC Competition. Additionally, in April 2023, she was invited to perform a solo recital at Carnegie Hall in New York, USA.
Apart from the piano, Grace also has a passion for composition, singing, musical theater, and dance. In her spare time, she enjoys composing, singing, and performing. She has collaborated with friends to compose graduation theme songs for her class and has also taken on lead roles in school musical theater productions. She dreams of becoming a well-rounded musician who can play, sing, dance, and create, and she looks forward to bringing joy to others through her beautiful music.
