Sophie Xin Meng

Born in 2011, Sophie Xin Meng, currently in seventh grade at Collingwood School, embarked onher piano journey at age of five under the tutelage of Ms. Cindy Liu and Dr. Sunsung Kong at KL Piano Academy.


Fuelled by her passion for music, Sophie quickly began amassing accolades, including winning First Place at the Crescendo International Music Competition at age six, where she was invited to perform at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York City, Silver Prize of Young Artist Group at the inaugural Vancouver International Piano Competition and First Place in 6-8 age group at the Pacific Youth Piano Festival in 2019. In 2020, Sophie achieved notable success, capturing three prestigious awards at Steinway Competition Canada and Gold at SAE Chopin International Music Competition in China. 2021 marked her Silver Prize win in the 9-year-old piano category at the Canadian Music Competition Nationals, where she was also honored as the crowd favorite in her category. In June 2022, Sophie won third place and the Best Classical Piece Award at the Kaufman International Youth Piano Competition in New York, USA, and on July 28th, 2023, she accomplished her first concerto performance with an orchestra at the Hall of Notaries in Perugia, Italy. In Nov.10th, 2024, Sophie was honored to be invited by VMO (Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra) to play Mozart piano Concerto as a solo pianist.


Sophie's talents extend beyond piano; she actively participates in various school activities, including school choir, band, drama club, track and field team, basketball team, and soccer team. Additionally, she serves as the accompanist for the school's choir and has represented in numerous competitions, earning awards for her contributions. Her dedication to music and her diverse interests continue to shape a remarkable journey filled with promise and artistic growth.
