Qichen Cai

Qichen Cai is a talented 12-year-old pianist with a strong passion for music, tennis, and comic creation. A recent graduate of Haikou Huandao Experimental Primary School, Qichen has been honing his piano skills for seven years under the guidance of He Chenfang, a prominent pianist based in the UK and the Secretary-General of the Haikou Music Exchange Association. His journey in music began early, making his first public performance at the age of five, and has since been shaped by mentorship from distinguished figures in the piano world, including professors from the Royal Academy of Music, the University of Cincinnati, the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the Xinghai Conservatory of Music, and Italian pianist Luca Rasca.

Qichen's dedication and talent have earned him recognition on both national and international stages. In 2023, he won the Grand Prize in the Free Performance category and First Prize in the Concert category at the 8th Germany Seiler International Piano Open Competition. That same year, he also claimed the Gold Prize in the Non-Professional category at the Liszt International Piano Open Competition's China Finals and was invited to perform at the closing ceremony.

His achievements include winning First Place in the 6-10 age group at the 2022 American Fiorito International Music Festival and Competition, and he was one of the few selected for their master classes. He also excelled in various regional and international competitions, such as the Yamaha Hainan Region, Chopin International Children’s Piano Competition, and the Singapore International Classical Piano Competition, consistently securing top honors.

At the provincial level, Qichen has been equally successful. In 2024, he was awarded First Prize in the Children’s C Group at the Schimmel China Youth Piano Competition in Haikou and the First Prize in Piano Solo at the Haikou Primary and Secondary School Teachers and Students "Qingye" Art Festival. His other notable provincial achievements include consecutive victories in the Pearl River Kaiserslautern International Youth Piano Competition Hainan Finals, top placements in the Hannover International Piano Olympia Invitation, and numerous first prizes in other prestigious regional contests.

Qichen’s impressive accomplishments at such a young age reflect his dedication, hard work, and passion for music. As he continues to grow as a musician, he is poised to achieve even greater heights in the world of piano performance.
