Shiyu Cao

Shiyu Cao is a gifted pianist currently studying at the Central Conservatory of Music’s Piano Department under the tutelage of Professor Zhao Ling. Her musical journey began at the Central Conservatory’s primary and secondary schools, where she was mentored by Professor Zhang Xinning and Professor Lai Yuanpei.


Shiyu's talent and dedication have led her to perform on prestigious stages and win numerous accolades. In 2014, she participated in the University of Utah International Music Festival in the United States, where she won the Best Classical Music Work Award in the piano competition. The following year, she won the Gold Prize in the Professional Group at the Beijing Piano Music Festival and performed a solo recital at the Beijing Concert Hall.

In 2016, Shiyu attended a piano masterclass at the Colburn School of Music in the U.S. and was invited to perform at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Her continued success in competitions includes winning Second Prize in the Open Group B at the 6th International Young Pianists Competition in China in 2018 and First Prize in the Professional Group at the Hummingbird Music Award for the Fourth China Youth Music Competition in Beijing in 2019.


Shiyu has also been recommended multiple times to participate in chamber music masterclasses and performances at both the Central Conservatory of Music and its affiliated middle school. She has had the honor of performing at the German Embassy’s concerts in China. In 2020, she earned the Gold Prize at the 3rd New Elite British International Youth Music Competition and First Place at the American International Music Open Competition. Most recently, in 2023, she received the Grand Prize in the Open Youth Group 1 at the Hanover Gieseking International Piano Elite Invitational Competition in Germany.


Shiyu Cao's impressive achievements and performances on international stages showcase her exceptional talent and passion for piano, marking her as a promising young artist in the world of classical music.
