Application for 2024 competion is now closed

Eligibility

- The competition is open to pianist of all nationalities.

- There are no restrictions regarding the musical education of the competitor, however it is the participants' responsibility to select a suitable category in reflection of their skill levels.

- Applications for Participants under the age of 18 years shall be submitted only with the consent of an adult entitled to represent their rights.

Video requirements

- Participants must submit a video recording of their performance.

- The video must be recorded in a single take without edits or cuts.

- The participant's face and hands must be clearly visible throughout the performance.

- Introduce yourself and state the piece you will be playing at the beginning of the video.

- Applicants must complete their programme with full details and timings.

- Videos should be of good quality with clear audio. Recordings must be in one of the following formats: MP4, WMV, MOV or MPG and uploaded to Google Drive or equivalent platform to make available for Jury Committee to download.

- If Videos submitted by Streaming platform i.e YouTube etc. you grant LOML permission and intellectual property rights to feature your performance on LOML media channels.

Online Final for China Region

Participants residing in China who have been shortlisted for the Online Final will be allocated to attend on-site competition recording at designated Steinway Halls between the 8th and 15th of January 2024. The timetable is as follows:

  • January 8th, 2024: Steinway Hall Guangzhou

  • January 10th 2024: Steinway Hall Chengdu

  • January 13th, 2024: Steinway Hall Beijing

  • January 15th, 2024: Steinway Hall Shanghai

Competition Regulations

By submitting an application online, the applicant accepts and agrees to abide by all the rules and regulations of the competition.

Adjudication

- The competitor‘s performance will be assessed by Jury committee.

- Criteria for judging include technique, musicality, interpretation, and overall presentation.

- Jury committee reserve the right to award fewer awards than planned if the performances under consideration do not meet the standards of the Awards.

- All Jury decisions are final and no discussion or correspondence will be entered into.

Video Feedback

- All winners will receive video feedback for their performance from one of our esteemed professors.

- Video feedbacks are property of LOML, and licensed to participant’s personal, non-commercial use only. Share any contents from video feedback without permission from LOML will result in immediate disqualification.

Awards

For Category A/B/C – 1st Prize to 6th Prize, Finalist, Highly Commended and Commended.

Invitation to our Summer Piano Academy 2024 with scholarship where winners can meet and learn from world class maestros in person

1st Prize - £600 scholarship

2nd Prize - £400 scholarship

3rd Prize - £200 scholarship

For Category D/E/F – 1st Prize to 6th Prize, Finalist, Highly Commended and Commended. All participants will be awarded with participation e-certificate.

Invitation to our Summer Piano Academy 2024 where winners can meet and learn from world class maestros in person

Finalists may be invited to give a recital in one of the London concert venues as part of the prize. Travel or accommodation expenses are participants’ responsibility.

All finalists will be offered opportunities to further their professional development.

All winners will receive E-certificate will be sent by email. Paper certificate can be posted to winners with a additional postage.

Winners will be promoted across LOML’s social media platforms including website and social media platform for maximum media exposure.

Music Teacher of Award Winners will receive a Certification of Recognition for their exceptional effort.

Publicity/Marketing

- Applicants must supply a high resolution jpeg photograph suitable for printing.

- Any recording submit to LOML throughout the competition will be and will remain the property of LOML and may be used by LOML or its partners for the promotion of the competition. By entering the competition, participants or their guardians grant LOML the right to use their video recordings for promotional purposes.

Safeguarding requirement for LOML Piano Summer Academy and Grand Final 2024

In compliance with Safeguarding Policy, finalists under the age of 18 will be allocated to a residential hall at Tonbridge School for the 5-day full boarding course. Participants over the age of 18 will be allocated to off-campus accommodation, which includes daily transportation. Individuals who are 18 years and older but wish to stay in the residential hall are able to apply by providing a most recent Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) report or its equivalent from their home country.

Disqualification

- Participants failing to adhere to the rules may be disqualified.

- Videos with editing or enhancement will be disqualified.

- Any sign of dishonesty or misrepresentation will result in immediate disqualification.

Communication

- All communication will be via email. Please ensure to check your emails (including junk mail folder) regularly.

- Results will be announced on the competition's official website and social media channels.

Disclaimer

The organisers reserve the right to make any changes to the rules and regulations or cancel the competition due to unforeseen circumstances.

Participation in the competition implies acceptance of all rules and regulations.
